Emud Rekord Senior 60

This is my first German radio. I bought it at a New Jersey Antique Radio Club swap meet. It sat on the seller's table for awhile priced at $55.00. On my last lap of the meet before leaving I took another look, admiring the condition of the cabinet. The seller said "it's dead, you can have it for $45". I figured why not and took it home.

When I put the radio on the bench and powered it up one of the dial lights came on but there wasn't a bit of sound, not even hum. I didn't have a schematic but was able to find a place that sold schematics for european radios. With schematic in hand I quickly found that a power resistor between the 2 main filter caps was toast. Replacing that resistor and the filter caps brought the radio back to life. I then went on and replaced the rest of the paper capacitors. The result is a great sounding radio with a beautiful dial and tuning eye.
